How I Work

Minette teaches on a one to one basis in her beautiful riding school, next to Ham House.

“Most riders benefit from skilled, personal instruction which explains how they can improve their position and riding style thereby not hindering their horses.

I use simple, clear language to develop the riders’ awareness so that they can understand and help themselves.

“All my horses are classically trained and will respond correctly when given the right aids, which means that my pupils get excellent feedback during their lessons.”

" I've just completed the first "Take Back The Reins" course, held here at Ham House Stables.  It's aimed at bringing lapsed riders back to the sport in a safe and enjoyable environment. Do take a look at the News section of this site, to see some of the rider feedback."

"The course was a great success and I was happily surprised by how enthuiastic the riders were to be coming back into riding and how they all seemed to enjoy riding together.  We all felt that this social aspect to the course helped to give the participants confidence.  I enjoyed watching every week the improvements in knowledge and riding skills."

The next Take Back The Reins course will start on May 8th and will conclude on June 19th.

"Says Minette, "Riding a horse for an hour burns anything between 250 to 500 calories, depending on your weight and what you are actually doing.  Riding uses all the main muscle groups - it's a bit like it's own form of yoga.  When you are riding, your muscles are continually working together to keep your body stable on the horse, and this is one of the reasons why regular riders are fit and why they have such strong abdominal muscles."

"I am happy to work with individuals, clubs and stables to your own or an agreed agenda."
